Murray Beach etc

Yesterday we got up and went out for breakfast where I had pancakes and maple syrup with some of mum's bacon but I didn't have them all together. Then a big dog came in and sniffed my Dad when he was eating that was so funny. Then we got back in the car and drove to Hyams Beach which has the second whitest sand in the whole of Australia. It was very windy and quite cold so we went to Murray Beach.

Murray Beach which is more shaded because it is on the other side of the bay, is very long so if you want to walk up it you have to try and get a spot in the middle so you can go both ways. We found a spot right in the middle with a tree to hang our stuff on. We did some swimming in the salty sea which was cooler than the day before then Dad made me look like a mermaid because he covered me up in sand and made it look like I have a tail.

Next we walked up to one end of the beach and looked at all the amazing things there were - rock pool with fish that sucked your feet into the sand and black snails making trails in the sand to get to the algae in the pools. Then we walked all the way to the other end and did more rock pooling where we found some barnacles and animals that when you touched them they squirt water out of the top called cungaboys or something. They looked like poos with moss on them.

A man came up to us and said "there's a diamond back python in the leaves sleeping" and we walked over to it and it woke up just as we were there so we took a picture and walked away. It wasn't that dangerous to us though because it only squeezes/constricts it's prey and we are not it's prey.

When we got back we did some sunbathing and Kate got burnt on her legs and then we noticed that a wallaby was coming down the beach. It was our first wallaby sighting and they are basically like kangaroos but they have pointier ears and are smaller and browner and redder than kangaroos. This one's ears were all manky though.

Next we drove to the supermarket for snacks and drove to the lighthouse (it is ruins). It is a ruin because a bomb went off on purpose because it was in the wrong place and confusing for the boat people. The three lighthouse keepers all lived up there with their families where tragic things happened including one girl who shot her best friend in the back of the skull and killed her. Then the third lighthouse keeper  was shark fishing but suddenly got washed in and drowned and then eaten by sharks whilst his son watched.

After that we went kangaroo spotting in the town nearby where we're staying. We found a mob (below) of kangaroos on someone's front garden. I thought that they were so cute and cuddly but I wouldn't cuddle them because they are quite dangerous and they are wild. If I fed them they would get used to me and expect me to feed them everyday and they will not teach their babies to fend for themselves.
