Busy busy day!

Yesterday we had chocolate cake for breakfast that we had made for Kate and brought it back. The we got on a train to Circular Quay so we could go to the Opera House to see what we could do on Sunday. We decided we would do a tour because it is sometimes quite busy in the shows and we didn't have that much time.

We walked to The Rocks and saw what it looked like under the bridge. We even saw someone playing a didgeridoo that was aboriginal music with a backing track of dance music. It was quite strange but Mum really liked it. I got a bracelet that I have already lost.

After that we walked through the botanical gardens to the Pulp Fiction and Hairy Maclary exhibitions at the National Library. The Pulp Fiction one was about comics and how they worked which was quite interesting and Steve Broadhurst would really like it (the person that we just stayed with in Huskisson). The Hairy Maclary one was about the books with interactive games and stories and pictures and story of the author.

We got a train to Queen Victoria Building which is an old shopping centre that still gets used today. When we were there there was a boy who was singing and it was quite like a girl singing because he was all squeaky. He sounded a bit like the Chipmunks. He was singing Thinking Out Loud (note from Polly: wondering if Amy Wadge is getting royalties from his CD sales too). QVB was just like one of the malls in Despicable Me 2 because it had a glass roof and loads of shops on the outside. The tiled floors basically looked like mosaics.

Then we walked to Chinatown and had Yum Cha ("with tea" I think) which is basically a place to eat where they come around and ask you what you want from a trolley. It is a Chinese restaurant and we had vegetables, dumplings, pork, flat noodles, prawny stuff. Mum and Dad drank jasmine tea. I tried the food and liked most of it except the flat noodles.

After we had had lunch we got on a bus to the Aquarium which had a dugong in it. They are basically the equivalent of a cow but they live in the sea. In the wild they will eat seagrass but at the aquarium, because seagrass is endangered, they can't get that so they tried spinach but they spat that out. Then they tried cos lettuce and they love it. Their names are Wuru and Pig. They are very cute but very big and heavy. We also saw some sharks, turtles and I touched a sea cucumber. 

Then we got on a ferry and train home which took quite a long time because we had to get on a boat that stopped basically everywhere in the harbour. Then we missed the train because we were too slow but there was another one that came in 5 minutes so we got that one.

We went to Pastitzi for dinner and I had spagetti and meatballs and mum had crab and prawn ravioli. Dad had penne arabiatta. And then bed.
